About Us

Spay Alabama's goal is to end the euthanasia of healthy and treatable dogs and cats in Alabama. The program was set into motion by Lynne Fridley of Maddie’s Fund, and Esther Mechler, Founder of SPAY USA. The program provides a single center, a single phone call that accesses all sorts of useful information regarding the various spay/neuter delivery systems, clinics and programs statewide. This means that even people in the poorest, most isolated parts of the state can, with a single (free) phone call, find their nearest affordable spay/neuter program and how to get help. We also identify areas of no service and help get programs started in those areas.

A single toll free number will eliminate confusion and runaround. Toll free numbers afford accessibility to everyone, even those without computers. With high-volume low-cost spay/neuter clinics in Birmingham, Dothan, Montgomery and Mobile and the new ALVMA car tag program, we direct pet owners from around the state to regional surgery sites.

We ask everyone to join us in supporting this effort to end the national epidemic of euthanasia of healthy and treatable dogs and cats.
